Bulsar Horizontal Flat Glass Tempering System.

Main features:

Windows based operator interface. One touch operation programme changes enable the production of all glasses to each international standard including heat-strengthened glass as standard. The system is designed to operate in an ambient temperature range between 5 degrees C and 40 degrees C. Higher ambient will require a cooling plant. (Optional extra)

High specification open coil elements to provide uniform radiant heat distribution.

Main control cabinet with data logging, continuous glass temperature recording (optional extra) manual override facility, inbuilt diagnostics.

Low thermal mass insulation materials provide maximum thermal efficiency for low energy costs.

The Bulsar Glass Tempering Furnace incorporates an accurate, reliable and sophisticated industrialised control system. The system is simple to maintain and incorporates procedures to allow quick local or remote solutions to machine and process problems.

Features:

  • All equipment is industrialised.
  • Fully recipe driven.
  • Powerful recipe handling features.
  • Comprehensive alarm and safety features.
  • Testing, diagnostic and maintenance features built in.
  • Solid state heat, quench fan, cool fan controls.
  • Solid state conveyor drive control with emergency standby systems.
  • Various control and data logging options available.
  • Inbuilt diagnostics.

The control station is located alongside the load table. The control system is “user friendly” utilising simply clear instructions and on screen helps functions. The control system incorporates data logging facilities and fault finding diagnostic functions.

No additional lifting equipment required as the furnace and quench systems have built-in lift mechanisms for ease of access
during maintenance.

Combined quench cooling sections provide for flexible processing capability.

A back up battery powered drive is designed into each system to remove glass in the event of a power failure, including a
“ pulse-roller” feature which rotates this roller drive intermittently. (Optional extra)

Unique lineshaft drive system requires minimal maintenance with soft start/stop oscillation, this is a scratch free operation.

Side loading solutions.
No special foundations or excavations - the furnace sits directly onto the floor. Loading is distributed throughout the individual
pads to reduce point loading.

Custom built environmental enclosures are available for quench and cooler sections, or furnace quench and cooler sections.(optional extra)

Minimal site commissioning - the plant is fully assembled, piped, wired and tested prior to delivery. Full witness testing available in house.

Energy saving automatic furnace entry and exit doors, close fitting roller seals and low thermal mass insulation reduce heat loss and cold air infiltration for low energy costs.

Precision ground, fused silica rollers in this furnace section.
Normal shop compressed air is used for operating furnace doors and lift tables Requirements - Pressure is 6 bar or 90psi. Consumption is negligible.

Sulphur Dioxide
S02 is automatically induced to the under side of the glass as it passes from the load table into the furnace chamber. This can be manually adjusted. Operation is “automatic” - “always on”
or “always off.”

Glass haze, scuff and iridescence are eliminated by metered and programmed S02 control, which also protects the ceramic rollers extending their working life.

Rollers:

Load: Mild steel wound with Kevlar type material.
(Rubber covered rollers are optional).
Oven: Polished Fused Silica with mild steel end caps.Mild steel wound with Kevlar type material.
Quench: Mild steel wound with Kevlar type material.
Unload: Mild steel wound with Kevlar type material

Flatness
The system is designed to comply with the European GGF 4.4 and the U.S. ASTM C 1048 Standard Specification for Heat Treated Glass.

Roller Pitch Characteristics

Roller Pitch Roller Diameter Minimum Glass Length
300mm wide 30mm 15mm 60mm
400 & 650mm wide 45mm 32mm 90mm
750mm wide 60mm 32mm 120mm
1000mm wide 70mm 38mm 150mm
1200mm wide 100mm 50mm 200mm
1500mm wide 100mm 60mm 200mm

These scaled down versions of standard Bulsar roller hearth glass tempering systems have been designed to toughen small circles and shapes including instrument viewing panels, protector glasses and gauge glasses.

Bulsar close pitch roller hearth tempering systems produce top quality toughened glass up to 65mm square, in any thickness
from 2.85mm to 19mm. Typical production rates of up to 20 charges of 4mm thick glass circles are achievable.

275mm x 275mm, 450mm x 450mm and 750mm x 1000mm.

Each system comprises a single chamber furnace, an air quench/cooler system and a roller topped charge and discharge system. The furnace heating chamber has roof and hearth zones, each individually controlled by its own microprocessor
based temperature controller to ensure the close temperature uniformity demanded by the latest international glass
standards.
